Oncology involves the diagnosis and treatment of all kinds of cancer. A medical oncologist acts as a main healthcare provider for someone with cancer throughout the course of their disease. A medical oncologist helps a patient and their loved ones understand their cancer diagnosis, treatment options and prognosis.

Julie J. Olin, MD
Julie Olin graduated from The University of Iowa College of Medicine in 1985. She completed internal medicine residency at UVMMC in 1988, followed by a year being chief medical resident. In 1992, she completed a fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at UVMMC. She has served as a hematologist and medical oncologist at UVMMC for 25 years prior to retiring in 2017.

Shahid S. Ahmed, MBBS
Dr. Shahid Ahmed is an assistant professor at University of Vermont and a medical oncologist specializing in genitourinary and skin cancers. He completed his medical education at Aga Khan University, Pakistan and finished his residency and fellowship from Indiana University. He joined university of Vermont Medical Center in 2019.
