General
The majority of our volunteer positions are filled on a continuing, as-needed basis.
We will explore and let you know the availability of the positions you selected on the submitted application as well as similar positions that might match your preferences and strengths. Our needs as a clinic determine the availability of certain roles. If a position you have applied for is not currently open, we may keep your application on file and contact you in the case of a future opening.
All volunteer positions require applicants to be 18 years or older.
A typical shift lasts 4 to 5 hours, depending on your role. Additionally, most volunteer positions at Free Access Health Clinic request a minimum duration of service, as we invest a great deal of time and energy training volunteers to meet our quality of care. Depending on the position, this period can vary from six months to one year. Long-term service is greatly appreciated at Free Access Health Clinic as it provides a consistent experience for our patients.
No. We welcome volunteers with or without experience in a healthcare or medical setting for all of our general volunteer and administrative support positions.
Yes! If you are interested in lending a hand for a one-time project, please contact our office manager, _ at –-_. For one-time projects, we will likely be able to utilize all applicants.
No. We do not fulfill court-appointed community service hours at our clinic.
Yes. Out of concern for the well-being and safety of our patients, staff, volunteers, and visitors, Free Access Health Clinic performs criminal background checks and child abuse clearances on all volunteers.
Please allow up to two to three weeks for processing after submitting your application in order for us to match your skills and interests with our available positions. At that point, you will receive a phone call to either arrange an interview with the Volunteer Manager or be placed on the waiting list if your desired position isn’t available at the time. Yes. Free Access Health Clinic maintains a business casual dress code. You are welcome to dress comfortably —although we prefer no low-cut or revealing clothing. As some patients have sensitivities to strong perfumes or scents, we also prefer that our volunteers refrain from their use during shifts. We ask that all volunteers wear closed-toe shoes for their safety.
Providers
No. We do not offer shadowing or clinical experience through the volunteer office.
Yes. To serve in a clinical capacity without supervision, you must be licensed in the State of Vermont.
