Pharmacists are specialists in medicines who provide medication counseling to help patients better understand their prescription and over-the-counter medications. As qualified healthcare professionals, they can offer clinical advice and over-the-counter medicines for a range of minor illnesses, such as coughs, colds, sore throats, tummy trouble, aches, pains, etc. Pharmacists can answer questions about prescription drugs and help identify lower-cost alternatives. They also administer immunizations to help prevent a range of ailments and diseases, including seasonal flu, meningitis, chicken pox, COVID-19, and many others.

Shaheedul Sami, PharmD
Shaheedul Azam Sami, a PharmD graduate from Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, who is currently a Senior Epic Clinical Pharmacy and Oncology Principal Trainer at University of Vermont Medical Center. Having a background on pharmacy field, it has further motivated him to work with Physicians, Nurses and Pharmacists at UVMMC and train them on Epic, one of the largest electronic health record systems. In the near future, he is planning to further extend his horizon and scope of practice as a Clinical Pharmacist at UVMMC, after accomplishing two imminent big projects related to Epic go-lives at other hospitals within the University of Vermont Health Network.

Marwa Aboukhatwa, RPh, PhD
Marwa Aboukhatwa is a Clinical investigational pharmacist at University of Vermont medical center. She received her Bachelor degree in pharmaceutical sciences from school of pharmacy, Cairo University and her Doctor of philosophy degree in pharmaceutical sciences from University of Maryland, School of pharmacy. Her pharmacy experience encompasses retail and hospital settings in addition to research experience in academic and clinical settings.
